ABOUT OUR NAME

THE HISTORY OF THE STEELE SURNAME.

The name “Steele” stands for one who has come from steel (meaning a stile or a place where one has to climb). Another meaning for “Steele” is one who is considered to be as hard as durable steel.

The Steele family finds its origins in the United Kingdom, in both Scotland and England, with national flags dominated by the colours blue and red, respectively. For this reason, these bold colours were chosen for The Steele Family Foundation logo.

The placement of these two colours purposefully create a division between the earth’s foundation (where the root cultivates), and the atmosphere (where the tree grows).

THE CIRCLE

The circle embodying the logo symbolizes connectivity, community, wholeness, endurance, and safety; which emphasizes The Steele Family Foundation’s mandate.

THE TREE

The tree in our logo symbolizes growth and nourishment. A tree and its branches provide shade and shelter against nature’s elements. Trees also bear fruit and are a source of nourishment and life.
